Karl was not far behind, until his compressor compressed itself to pieces and provided him with a bit of a setback, butt he's just lacking a little bit of pimpsauce in order to enter the land of true, a/c perversion! I have no doubt he will get there, though!

Hey Tim, my brain is such a hot mess, that there is no way that even liquid nitrogen could freeze it!

BUTT on a serious note, a couple of great things about a system that's capable of such arctic performance is that it sheds interior heat in a hurry, even following the most insane, TexAss parking lot heat soak action, and the system does not need to run on max at all times to keep the cabin extremely comfortable (less compressor wear and tear, less engine h/p usage, better highway cruising fuel economy, etc.). Not to mention that it allows for a lot of unabashed, chest beating, too!

On my recent 5,400 mile road trip in my 1985 911 we were in 95+ heat outside for a full day of driving. Then my wife insisted we go to a real restaurant and have lunch. That is 45 minutes of the car sitting in 95+ degree hot parking lot after driving hundreds of miles. We get back in and within a few minutes I have to turn the temperature UP because I am getting cold. My wife got cold on several occasions because we were driving north at 3:30 PM. I had the AC cranked up to max and I was fully comfortable so I just pulled the passenger side heater lever up a little to warm her side up.

We had an autocross yesterday in our region. A day of fun at the track. As I was leaving I cranked up the AC and in just a few miles the vent temp was 40 degrees with the fan at MAX. It will blow 38 to 40 degree air for hours on end at the max fan speed on a road trip.



It will frost up the return coming back to the compressor on a hot day.

Well, my AC got 48 degrees at the vent yesterday and I'm dancing in the street! I bet on a trip it will get better. I hope. I'm shooting for 28 degrees!!!!!!! That would be the Pelican world record!!!! Anyway, before I replaced the compressor I tried to repair the shaft seal in the old unit. Horrible. I did everything I thought correct but it leaked everywhere. So I just bought a rebuilt one on eBay. I feel the key to my success was the replacement of the expansion valve. I believe mine was plugged.

Nick, you have a stock system, right? If so, you are seeing performance that is basically spot on for a stocker (40s-50s vent temps in ambient of 80s) - and like Bob K. and others here point out, much above the mid 80s temps, and the stock system is not going to do much cooling. So in other words, good job with the work you've done!

Now if you want to go for a world record, first you need to mix some powdered unicorn horns, and bacon bits (real ones) into the refrigerant, and report back!
