Red face Steering Wheel Replacement

A) can anyone tell me if MOMO makes a different hub for a '73 and '74 911 or are they the same.

I have removed my original steering wheel from my '73 911e. When I place the hub that I have, the nut does not grab the steering shaft. The shaft stops at the inside base of the hub.

B) when I pulled the original steering wheel off, the bearing (sp?, i am tired) pulled out with the wheel. Do I need this with the new MOMO hub?

Thanks

i just replaced MY steering wheel on my '73 911E. i didn't have any problems. the part number of the momo hub was: 0230. it took me about 1 hour. most of that time was figuring out the wires (it ended up being very easy).

if i read your message correctly, it sounds as if you don't have the steering wheel pushed down far enough on the steering sheel shaft/splines. mine took some pushing to fit, but once it went on the splines, and i had the spring and washer correctly installed, it was a piece of cake.

email me again if i'm missing something.....

You got it correct, my supplier gave me a hub #0231, for a '74+

Bad news is it looks like I have to reset the bearings.

when my wheel came off, a small spring and a "washer device" meant to rest on the spring came out. the first time i set the new wheel, i had not replaced these 2 parts. the wobbliness of the new wheel made me double check my work, because i knew something was not correct.

when i replaced them on the new wheel, it took some pressure on the new wheel to get them to seat properly. once they seated, the nut went on correctly, and the wheel just needed some minor alignment adjustments that were made after driving the car.
