Cool getting ready for a road trip..

I'm taking the Porsche on a 7-hour trip next week...this will be the longest trip yet. I'm gonna change the oil, and check the fan belt(I've got a spare)..I've already changed the DME relay. anything else I should check before we hit the road?

check your wheel bearings by "shaking" the tire, check your lugnut torque, brake fluid, cd collection, beef jerky supply, wiper blades, get some spare fuses, AAA card just in case, your sunglasses....

Check ALL of the fluids, tire pressure, bring a spare quart of oil or two, your favorite CDs, sunglasses, Maybe a small tool kit, and the AAA number just in case.

You'll be fine; I just pulled a 10+ hour to and from trip in June with my '87 944S that has 157,000mi on it.

Dan, I'm going on a week and a half road trip with the 993, covering around 2,000 miles. I wouldn't think twice about 7 hours.

How's your fire extinguisher? Checked it lately to make sure it is fully charged? Don't have one? GET ONE!!! Even with a great response time in the 4 minute range, your vehicle is burnt toast by the time the FD gets there (plus they will access the engine with a crowbar and an axe). Being able to knock down a potential small fire quickly with your own extinguisher would make a world of difference.

Good luck, stay safe and have fun,
Tom
