tire rack is a good place to start your search.

If you plan to drive your car in cold weather, check out the michelin pilot sport as3+
I live in denver, co and drive my '86 carrera year round -- used to run dedicated snow tires/wheels, but find the michelin pilot sport as3+ tires to be an ideal match for my almost-daily-driver car. Not as confidence-inspiring in the snow as my dedicated winter tires, but (importantly) are equally at home in cold and hot weather. My previous continental extreme contact dw summer tires would suffer traction and ride-wise when driven at below 45 degrees. Didn't think all season tires could be this good of a performance tire -- although I only have a few thousand miles on these so far, they appear to be holding up well. |

You can't go wrong with Michelin. Right now I just bought a set of continental's haven't tried them out yet, but I like trying different tires. These are all season hp tires, I'm not going to track it. If I want to do that, I prefer 2 wheels.

Wider is Better

I am running continental sport tires for summer use on my 87. I don't remember which model but I picked one of the higher wear ratings because I don't drive like I need super sticky tires. For Pennsylvania winters I cannot beat Bridgestone Blizzak tires. They make all the difference in getting up the hill to my house on snow and ice.

I just got delivery on a new set of Continental ExtremeContact Sports. I had basically narrowed my search to these and the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+. Don’t think you can go wrong with either, pick according to your driving conditions. My car does not see cold or snow, the Continental’s cost less and are higher performance in dry and wet, should work well for my needs.

I'm good with tools.

I just installed a set of Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires on my 88 coupe. Extremely stiff side wall. I have to say so far I love them. I also own a car with the Continental Extreme Contact and like those too. There are far more I dislike than like. I use to be a big fan of Yokohama's and Michelin. Not so much anymore.

Depends on sizes you want, driving style, where you live, summer only or all season, and how long you want them to last in miles/years. Lots of great choices once you narrow the field a bit.

I bought the Michelin. Love them. Had Toyos that were too rough. Good luck. Steve
