Do I need to strip my engine tins?
So, i removed my 4 perimeter engine tins (not the fan shroud) as part of my reseal and decided to freshen them up a bit. So I sanded down the trouble spots with a wire disk and then painted the tins with a coat of Rustoleum Rust Reformer rattle can paint and then a couple coats of Ultra High Temp black rattle can paint.
Then I realized the Rust Reformer is not high temp paint and in fact says not to apply to surfaces that will exceed 200 degrees when heated. Am I screwed?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the quick reply, JWW! Pretty psyched to have the engine close to going back in and car running after almost two years and this had the possibility to be a real setback and disappointment.

I blasted mine and then primed and painted. I don't think I user a hi-temp paint either, and five years later they are still fine. The only think that may happen is some dimpling in the paint, but since it is black, you barely see it.

Powdercoat. Looks amazing, cleans easy, durable and not that expensive.

I powdercoated mine too.
it does not cost that much, got a great relationship with my powercoating guy. I felt like he did not charge enough for the work he has done in the past so I paid him extra. now I take small stuff to him and he does not charge me
