window trip help needed
I was assembling some window trim yesterday and ran into a problem. The new interior door window trim I bought from the host has me beat right now. I just don't see how to install it. There is a felt side and also a squeegee side but they are opposite each other. The parts I removed 6 months ago didn't have the squeegee part. I don't remember for sure but I expect the felt side faced the door glass. The new trim has a squeegee which I expect must face the glass (on the inside?) putting the felt side towards the interior. I've checked the books and searched here for info but nothing that gives me what I need. Can someone show me a few pictures of their installed interior door window trim so that I can better understand?
This is for an 84 Targa. ![]() ![]()

I will give it shot, but I know I don't have the answer handy.
In the PET catalog, where they show these pieces of trim, they usually have a crude "side-view" of the particular part. The picture I grabbed is from an 86 - so maybe it will help, maybe not. My suggestion would be to list the part numbers you have and play them against the PET. (assuming you have one) Another option, I will try to snag a pic of mine, but in-situ. I replaced mine a few years ago, but took no 'after' pics - my bad. Or, with a little patience, someone will chime in with a common sense answer regarding the felt vs squeegee sides. good luck! ![]()

Thanks Dan. From the picture you've included it is item #6 and it looks like the felt I s towards the glass and the squeegee flap is toward the inside of the car. I'll take a look at this tomorrow. Maybe the rubber flap is to ride against the top of door trim piece but I'm not ready to install that yet.
Thanks for the picture. Mark

Mark,
here are 2 shots of the part in the car - drivers side. These look a little different than yours. I can't tell if yours is the right part or just mounted wrong, or even if it is for the passenger side. I hope these help. ![]() ![]()

Looking again, to me it looks like you have two of the outside pieces on the door. The one you are having a prob with (inside) almost looks just like the outside piece. Do you have the originals still on the passenger side installed or the original parts laying around for comparison? I may still have my old trim pcs, so let me know if you need pics of them.

Thanks again Dan, I think your pictures show me the way. Looks like I may have it in upside down. It's a Z type gasket so that provides a few options for install. I will check it out tomorrow.
