Heater backdate with air pump?
I'm working on backdating my '78 SC, no AC but the air pump is there - I may eventually pull the air pump when I'm more certain that I won't register in California, but for now I want to leave it in place to preserve the option. I picked up some QSC metal fan outlets - the right went on no problem but initial fiddling tells me the left side won't fit with the air pump in place. Can anyone confirm? If so I may just leave the original left side plastic piece on and use a 3">2.5" reducer to route the duct to the exchanger. I've looked through all the threads I can find on backdating and haven't seen a pic yet with the pump in place. Thanks

Bump on this question -- I completed the heater backdate and found that the bracket for the smog pump fits with the left side heat socket in place. The plumbing for the smog pump though conflicts with the heat socket.
I'm planning to leave the pump and plumbing out for now but would like the option to re-install at a later date. If anyone has the smog pump in place with the heater backdate could you explain how you did it, or post pics? Thanks!
