Who do you use to ship a motor?

Trying to figure out shipping arrangements for a 911 motor within the US. Any recommendations / experieces / prices?

Hi,

I know it's not the US, but I had to ship some computers (ALOT more expensive than a 911 motor) across Canada. I used a shipping Company (I think they were called Rodair) that came in looked at the Computers took measurements, then showed up the next day with a Custom built wood crate. They took that Computer(s) , put a sealed bag around them, then placed them in the box, put in another bag and filled it with foam (that hardened) that formed to the shape of the computer. They did the thing in minutes. So the computer has a custom made stryo enclosure around it, then they screwed on the crate lid.

I bet this thing would drop off a train without breaking (well maybe not, but It was tough).

The cost of shipping air across Canada was expensive, but so was the cargo.

Just a though for you, maybe try a shipping Company to see what they can offer.

Good Luck

Forward Air is by far the cheapest shipping/freight company I have used (www.forwardair.com). They have shipping terminals all over the country. If you can get the motor dropped off at one of their terminals, and pick it up at one, you will save a ton of money! Just call them (800-726-6654) with the pick-up and destination zip-codes, and they can look up the closest terminals at each end. They should also be able to give you a quote if you have the dims and weight.

BAX Global, using their BAX Saver rate-without question. Shipped right coast to left coast and back many, many times. 500 pound palletized 3.6L runs $350, and that's door to door, not terminal to terminal! While its supposed to be ground service, it actually goes air. Their service is great as well with same day pickup. No truck freight company will spot ship for less. What's great is that BAX has it there in 3 to 5 days instead of 7 to 10 days.

Cheers,

Mifintifin

I use a company called western freightways. They usually charge us about $175-$200, Yellow freight is about $250. They give people like us with acounts up to 50% off. If you know anyone who sends recieves frieght see if they can send it for you. Forward air is the cheapest for an individual but you have to drop it off and pick it up at the terminal. Should be about $250 w them. Up to 3.0 is usually under 400lbs on a pallet.
