Patrick Motorsports Air Filter Kit? Issues
Anyone had any issues with the fit of the these? The holes don't line up, and it does not look like it would seal very well to the MAF. Has anyone made a gasket?

I'd call them. Maybe they could help.

Mine came with a K&N cone. It had to be angled to fit. I can't stand them, and gladly replaced it with the OEM airbox.
(84-89) K&N cone intake filter and K&N stock air filter

Yours looks different than mine. My intake has a flat flange. The fit looks less that perfect.

Similar experiences with them and their conversion parts. I also used Instant G for some of my conversion and Steve was always willing to go the extra mile to help me get it running. I shipping him my ECU (didn't get from him) and he tested it in his '72 to confirm nothing was wrong with it (and that I may have a wiring problem instead).

K&N filters are fine 'race' filters but lousy street filters.
I had one on my Hot Rod here in Az, the carbs idle jet was always clogging up with dirt....you could wipe the area with your finger and feel the grit.....and yes, cleaned and oiled as per inst. Put a paper filter in place and no problems ever...that oiled medium lets in a great deal of particulate matter.

How did you find the fit? Did you remove the aluminum flange on the MAF? It looks like that is the only way it will fit. The holes do not line up. It does not look like a flush fit to the flange.
I did send an email. The issue is that I bought it a few years ago, never tried to install it until yesterday. This is for a 964 3.6 going into a 77. Last edited by jamesjedi; 08-25-2016 at 06:09 AM.. |

I did talk to them about it. I bought it three years ago. They said they were not aware of any issues with them. Perhaps I am being overly fussy about the holes not lining up very well.
I now have it for sale. I will use the OEM 964 air box. Last edited by jamesjedi; 09-01-2016 at 09:29 AM.. |
