G50 trans rebuilder in North East
Greetings!
I am located in Maine and want to line up someone to freshen up my '87 G50 trans this winter. I could go as far as NY and ultimately ship anywhere CONUS depending on input. Thanks! Donnie Stanford |

I would personally use Jim Patrick at Patrick Motorsports. They are in AZ, but I have never had anything but great service with them.

Shipping costs will be the cheapest part of the whole project. My suggestion is go with the best guy you can find.

+1 on Bill Pfister. So particular and skilled he borders on OCD...but isn't that what you look for with this stuff?!?!

The best G50 builder in the country is Bill Rader. Period. Patrick and CMS aren't even in the same league and CMS is my 3rd largest customer.
For a standard g50 rebuild there is no reason and no compelling argument to ship a gearbox. Any one of the builders I listed above is totally up to the task and spending an extra $300-400 on shipping is silly. I usually suggest several options, in no particular order, and suggest you call each and find a match. Don't email them. Call them and have a conversation and make a connection that works for you. One advantage of a locality builder is you can go there if something goes wrong. Do you really want to drive or fly to Arizona if there's an issue?
