Steel key cutting service in a Orange County?

Besides the Stealership any sources? No one seems to do steel keys anymore. I have the blank....Buena Park.

I don't think your issue is isolated to California. I had the same push-back in El Paso about 2 years ago. They are afraid of breaking their cutting tool on a key they did not sell. Strange.

If you are ever up to the San Fernando Valley, Franklin Hardware on Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills recently cut a few keys for me. No hesitation about equipment and cut perfectly. This is a family run "old school" hardware store.

My dealer would cut factory keys for free... Yours doesn't?

I cut mine at Home Depot. Don't know/care it's steel or not.

I had my blanks cut at my local, family owned, old school hardware store. The guy gave me no guarantees, and I said no problem, just give it a shot. He'd never done one before and cut 2 for me, both of which work perfectly. Best $8 I spent in a while.

I've only had 1 aftermarket key with my SC since I got it 8 years ago. This week I finally took precautions. My local locksmith had 3 P06 Cole blanks and made 3 keys for $10. Best $10 I've spent on my car! They are aftermarket but are an insurance policy. In parallel, since my original key is an aftermarket and maybe even a 3rd generation or greater duplicate, I contacted my local P dealer. They can get a key cut from the VIN direct from P US for my 83 SC Cab with proof of ownership. The key has the sighed fob. It will be a 1st generation key so I think it well worth the $127.32 the dealer/P wants for it. Again, cheap insurance. I can't believe I've gone this long with the risk of 1 key!
