Crack in rubber oil hose near gas cap.
Sorry, Oil cap...ha
Can this be replaced by a novice? It's hard to see where it the other side ends up. ![]()

Oil cap not gas cap.
Not familiar with the 3.2 but I believe it goes around the back side of the motor to the breather cover. Not sure how easy it would be to access it.

I hope you don't put gas in there!
![]() j/k The looks like the oil breather hose and it can be done but getting to the back side WILL be a challenge. It connects to the back of the engine. Lowering the engine a few inches by disconnecting the rear engine mounts and supporting it with a jack works well.

Use your camera to take pictures back there to see where it ends up. You might be able to use the attached pic as a reference to see if it is the breather or the line to the elbow above the TB. There should be a vacuum line sticker on your deck lid as another reference.
Clean the line around the smile and use 3m electrical or silicone tape until you are ready to tackle it. disregard the red circle in my pic - that was for something else. ![]()

Got around to this again.
I verified that the oil cap hose goes into the air boot (or whatever it's called) Seems like it could be a hassle to remove and replace. Tight access to hose clamps, etc. ![]()

I replaced the hose while it was in the car. Removed air cleaner assembly and a few other things. Used a small mirror and then basically did it by feel. Might also be be easier to drop the engine a few inches. Good luck.

Woody, no need to replace that hose due to that small crack (fill it with some glue if you want - liquid Superglue works very well on rubber - clean first, of course) - pain in the azz to do so, and only vapor passes through that hose, anyway. Also, many of the new OEM hoses are turning out to be pieces of crap and develop surface cracking like that soon after installed.

The crack is probably developing right where the breather restrictor is located (inside the hose).
