FUCHS what do I have?

The tires are 205/225 x 16" any idea on wheel width, its an 84 911 ROW. I though 8 and 9" but I could be wrong

Those are standard sizes for 6" and 7" (respectively) Fuchs as fitted at the factory

Its an ROW, with 16s I thought from the factory they came with wider than 6 and 7" Fuchs. Any easy way to tell?

For '84, 16s were 6 and 7. I don't think the non-turbo Carrera ever got a 16x7 front wheel from the factory, though later models had the option for a 9" rear.

The 15" option was 7 and 8.

The only way to really know is take 'em off, the size is stamped right on the back...

Thanks

Based on the pic in your FS ad, they look like 7s and 8s to me.

I'll pull wheels tomorrow morning when its cooler.

Agreed (I didn't think to look for an ad), so they aren't strictly speaking original, but from a Turbo.

Personally I like how 205 and 225 sit on 7s and 8s much better than 6s and 7s.

Actually, 1984 was an unusual year in that you could get 16X7s and 16X8s as on option. My 1984 Carrera came with that option from the factory. They discontinued it in 1985 and wider rear wheels didn't return until the late eighties.

Got curious, pulled the left tires, 7s and 8s. Thanks.

Yup, the 8s will support a 245/45 if you can find any. I sold mine beause of the lack of choices.....got good coin. Don't miss them, 225/45s on the rear 7s are fine for what I need......205s on the 6s.

Got any documentation of that?

Nowhere in the literature I've seen were 7 & 8 x16 Carrera options

std for 911 Carrera for '84-89 was 6 & 7 x15
opt1 was 7 & 8 x15
opt 2 was 6 & 7 x16

for TL & Turbo
std was 7 & 8 x16 for '84 -85 and 7 & 9 x16 for '86-89

I'm sure there were at least some dealers that would have changed to 7 & 8 x16 as that was a very popular upgrade done by private owners in that era, followed by the 7 & 9 x16 that was popular after that
