Seeking Help- stuck in buzzards bay mass...
Hi all, I've been in plymouth ma for a few days visiting my dad in the hospital. After leaving last night, I explored some of the glorious roads around the many ponds in this area. The car ran great, sounded great and acted great. Many of these wonderfully paved roads run out into dirt roads. I turned the car around a few times at these junctures and on one of those occasions, a green light (see picture) blinked temporarily on the dash. I think this is an aftermarket light and I have no idea what it indicates. The car has an old security system brain still intact behind the dash and a kill switch is built into the dash via a false headlight knob just right of the steering column, on the dash.
The flashing only happened a few times as i bumped out of the dirt road - all in a 15 second experience with a couple of half second to one second flashes. Drove back to my parents in Buzzards Bay and thought nothing of it. Went out to car this morning to drive back to hospital, and no start. I've got battery. I've got high pitched whine. That's all I could check before I had to borrow another car and run to the hospital. I'm going to return this afternoon to the car and clean contacts relating to fuel system and also try to expose the wiring for the kill switch and see if that didn't just crap out, thus not powering the fuel pump (assuming this how the kill switch works). Any other ideas would be super helpful or if anyone is near by and wants to help me do some testing - I'm without a lot of tools being away from my home. my name is chris and i'm stuck, but not panicking at all. Just want to get my baby started so I can drive back to CT. I'm in a hospital with spotty wifi coverage so forgive me if I can't reply to something quickly. Many thanks in advance for any help. ![]() |

FWIW I just removed a kill switch that did the same thing.
If yours was setup like mine, you can look under the dash near the ignition switch and see where they cut the red fuel pump wire coming out of the third harness that plugs into the firewall area. That would lead over to your fake headlight switch. See if it came loose, or cut the kill switch leads and hardwire back to factory there temporarily.

I'm going to dig into the back of the dash and check the wiring on the kill switch. Seems the likeliest culprit. |
