Identify this broken spring please
 

Hello All

I just found this broken spring in the engine compartment of a 1987 911 Coupe I just acquired. One end of the spring appears to be attached to the underside of the intake on the drivers side. The other end looks like its broken and I can't see where it was attached.

The spring is visible hanging just below and behind the small fuel line just left of center of the image.
Can you tell me what it is for and what the other end is supposed to attach to?

Throttle return spring? but if so why is the throttle working fine???

Looks like a throttle return spring. Maybe the previous owner replaced a broken spring but couldn't find the piece that had broken?

Not sure it is the throttle return on the TB, that would be above the ICV in the pic.
I think it is one of 2 throttle return springs that go to the BELLCRANK conveniently located on top of the engine under the intake.

One end goes to the bell crank in the rear, the other comes forward and attaches to the nib you have hanging down from the intake body there 0.5" to the left of the shiny hose clamp screw on your fuel line there.

Yes you are correct it is one of those springs. It is still attached to the Nib on the bottom edge of the intake. The other end of it has no 'hook' so I imagine the end is broken off the spring. Forgive my ignorance but what is the bell crank? As you can see from the pic, you can't see anything forward of the nib so how the heck to I reattach it? It looks like the intake has to come off!!??
