Driving home tonight

Hey guys went out for a few wings and a couple of beers, so while driving in my oil level gauge started trying to jump out of the dashboard oh yea 82 SC backdated Hotrod, So I thought I would take the easy way out and ask the experts, thinking sending unit. Just to clarify needle on gauge was going to break if I wasn't so close to home.
Thanks in advance

same thing happened when my sending unit failed, you can disconnect the ground on the tank to calm the needle down until you can try and repair (per posts you should be able to find on Pelican) or just replace (as I did) the sending unit.

Make sure the connectors on the sender are tight. Loose connections will cause jumping

Certainly a loose connector or intermittent ground.

Do you have any other electrical issues like headlight intensity changes with rpms or bouncing tach? If so you might want to consider the voltage regulator. Get a $10 voltmeter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and watch for voltage spikes. You want to catch that problem before you boil your battery.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

Has gotten weird

Ok checked connectors appear to be fine, went ahead and ordered a new unit fron our host. However when it all happened last night simintanious the light in my combo gauge oil temp went out . Well bulbs are ok, checked them both and burn while they are pulled out of the socket as soon as I turn the key they go out. My question which I think is not a good one to ask Any corilalation between the sending unit and dash light on that gauge. Doesn't sound right but I don't think German
Thanks Guys
