3.6 in a 3.2 G50 Carrera? Is it worth doing?

Nothing imminent, but I've been wondering about where to go next with my car. I've modded the suspension to my liking (22 and 29 T-bars, bushings, Koni Sports, lowered, balanced, etc.), but have done nothing to increase hp (except running a cat bypass and an Autothority chip that the PO installed).

Here's my question....does it make sence to consider a 3.6 swap into a 70,000 mile 89 Carrera with G50? The weight advantage of converting an early car does not apply here it seems (car is about 3010 lbs wet with driver). I don't care to spend $3-4k on SSI's, muffler, MAF, etc., only to gain 10-15 hp.

It seems the swap would be a breeze considering the G50 transmission, Motronics, etc....is this true? Just wondering if it's even worth day-dreaming about.

I've driven a friend's 87 911 with 993 (272HP) engine a couple of times. It feels smoother and stronger than my euro 3,2 no doubt about that. I don't know how easy/complicated the transplant were, but the whole package felt very well put togheter.

I have seen a 993 transplant in a 964. The owner said it was a big improvement over the original 964 motor...and it was a very clean install.

It was done by speedster94 and I have some of the images and details on my website if you would like to take a look.

Hi Im currently doing a 3.6 in a sc, you will probably need every part i need, including the harness the brain, and you will also need a fly wheel, your heat exchangers will work, but i think that is about it, if your car is a 70000 mile car and is exceptional condition, i think i would pass on the conversion, You might spend some of the money just making sure all the service is up to date, or just fix any gremlins it may have, Kevin
