Door striker dimples...
Does anyone know what purpose the dimples have above and below the door striker?

Ultimately, I'm wondering if it has something to do with locating the spot where the captive nut assembly gets spot welded to the chassis.
About 2 years ago, I purchased a replacement quarter panel from the dealer and it appears that the striker mount is in the wrong spot!!! Measurements show that it should have been about 1/4" higher than it is. There is not enough adjustment to correct this and I will need to drill out the spot welds and reattach it in the correct location. Meanwhile, the car is completely painted. Grrrrrrrrr!!!! I am not happy with the quality control of the replacement parts these days! ![]()
