Tire Valve Stems
So my fuchs are almost completely polished and ready for remounting. Where can I look at a selection of tire valve stems to have installed? I've seen a million different types and I want to be rather picky when putting the wheels back together. Tried Tire Rack, local tire stores and searched the web. I can't find much of a selection.

personally I would avoid the metal valve stems (assuming you aren't talking about the caps). The brace that is present on 7's which is supposed to keep the valve correctly positioned and is not present on 6" wheels does seem to do something. I have noticed a spot on each of my 6's that points to the metal (premium) valve stems that the tire place installed flexing out and into contact with the rim. I would guess that the rubber valves are lighter and so would be less likely to flex like that.

I have 7's & 8's with the support piece, but I was thinking of removing it. Chris from Autobahn Extremists showed me 1/2 dozen different stems on cars in his ship. He even has a set that are totally flush with the rim, is. the stem portion is inside. He said he typically goes to a local tire shop and gets, however, I haven't had any luck. I bought a set of the Porsch Crest ones shown but realized they are only a rubber stem with a full cap. There has to be a good location to view the options.

I wouldnt use those valve stems, that you have to use the adapters, this is the deal the base is the same size as a metal valve, you take a coin and take the screw driver cap off, then you have to insert that little metal pipe, then depending on the wheel you may have to buy a special air chuck that has a angle that will fit on the little pipe that screws into the wheel, little pipe breaks you loose you have a nail you take it to the rtire store they change the vale because you dont have the little fill pipe, racers tried these only to loose them fill tube and just plain a pain, i would pass, any custom installer will be able to correctly install metal valve, the matks from the stem you are talking about are froming poor installation or over tigtening, plain rubber valves with the valve support will give you less problems, the valve support is basically a racing thing so they don get knocked off at the track by anouther car, Kevin

I use the plain ol' rubber valve stems, with the plain ol' black plastic caps. Never had a failure, and kids leave the caps alone...I've often wondered, since a bicycle only uses two caps...what do the kids do with all the caps they steal?
