Does anybody else do this?
I always run my manual seat back all the way in my 80SC when I exit my car.
A good Porsche mechanic got me doing this years ago. It saves the carpet etc. and gives you more room to get in and out. Infact I think I would miss my manual seats now that I have this habbit. Anybody else do this? just curious Cheers |
Yeah, I do. My legs are toooooooo long not to.
|
I buy 34" inseam pants...of course my drivers seat is all the way back! Permanently!
|
I wonder if it's cheaper to wear out your seat mechanisim, than your carpet??
|
I too buy 34" inseam pants, and my seat is always at the last stop. Besides, I like hoping into the car and not have to adjust anything. Once you find that perfect setting you get so use to it that a slight shift can be annoying...to me anyways. I might agree with Doug that wearing out your seat is a good arguement for finding that perfect setting and leaving it be. Hehe...

I wear a 34" inseam pant, I'm 6'2", and I sit very close to the front of the adjustment. If I sit all of the way back, or even a notch up from all of the way back I can hardly get the clutch to the stop, not that it needs to go that far, but with the seat that far back I have a helluva time reaching everything and being comfortable. I've wondered if my seat were somehow adjusted because the driver's and passenger's sides adjust to totally different spots.
But on the subject, I never move the seat if once I get it right. |

I'm 5' 9", wear 30" inseam pants, but run my seat back almost every time. Weird? Not when you have Corbeau Forza seats with aggressive side bolsters, a lowered SC and a physique that doesn't bend as easily/quickly as a few years ago.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/jump.gif

I just leave the seat all the way back.

I've gotta get in on this: 6', 34" inseam, standard "cowboy" boots or work boots, Seat to point where clutch is fully depressable by me, and I hate adjusting it. Now in the 1/2 ton vinyl bench seat, I just let the whole thing stay all the way back and enjoy the leg room. Besides, the dog has to have a place to hide when the Jerry Jeff starts embarrasing even her!!

I too wear a 30" inseam and drive with the seat pretty far back but I make sure I get the clutch to the floorboard. I like to sit so I can just peer out over the wheel most of the time.
Carpet Vs seat mechanism ? I think if you keep the mechanism lubed it sould last a long long time. It just makes it easier for me anyway to get in and out. And I think I would rather deal with it Vs the carpet. I've seen a few car were the carpet on the kick panel gets all wore out from getting in and out of the car. Cheers:) |
I never move my seat unless I have to.
|
the only part of the seat I move is the back adjust wheel, as I like it slightly reclined, and the mechanism very slowly creeps over time. I have to give it a half turn or so about once every 2 weeks.
|
The PO always did this and I have continued the tradition. I never kick the door or sidewall area of the car and the area still looks perfect after all those years.
|
My seat back creeps too. So I do make some adjustment as Nostatic does...glad my old seats have friends.
