Dear friends,

I notice that a few owner install this 911 CIS Air Box Pop-Off Valve 100843000 - Uro Parts - 10-0843-000 | Pelican Parts
CIS pop off relief valve on their cars
My question is or are:
-Why do I need to install this part?
-What happens if I don´t install this?
-Was that an original part from Porsche in any time?
-I have a 1976 911s is this part applicable to this car?

It helps prevent blowing apart the airbox if the car backfires. Yes, you should install one if your car doesn't have it already. Have you looked to verify this?

I vote yes and it has saved my box on two occasions when the AFR leaned out. You'll find numerous opinions.

its like buying airbox insurance. Hopefully you never need it but if you do youll be glad you got it. And let face it the old air box glue is only getting weaker with time

It's controversial. There's also a pretty convincing argument not to install it because if it's installed incorrectly or it leaks over time it can actually cause a backfire that won't save your airbox. To each his own.

I say yes, but use quite a bit of epoxy, and if you car has allready had a replacement airbox, there is a cold start manifold right below the point where you drill, so drill a pilot hole, and put a screw driver through to get an idea of depth.

make sure you install the valve the right way, and do a smoke test before and after. Pull an injector and blow smoke through the inlet manifold, you'll see any air leaks before or after. Cigars are good.

pointed away from the filter so it doesnt get jamed on the filter. cut grind down the ribs so it sits flat. The type of epoxy is debateable I dont know what is the latest recommendation

Is there a more expensive pop off valve available through Pelican?

I am not impressed with the URO brand.
