Matched or not, the 245/45/16 size is a dinosaur for the tire companies. It's awesome companies like Pirelli put out a modern-compound tire in some vintage sizes (they're known for that in Europe, actually), but the Trofeo R would be a tenuous street tire for me in 3 seasons (not counting winter).
The Toyo T1R is still available some places in 245/45/16, but I don't like that compound at all compared to the RE-11.

A better Toyo street tire are T1Rs, an older design, but still available if you look. Seems like they're more plentiful in the UK (more pcars there?) I would plan ahead and purchase the increasingly scarce tires discussed, then store them properly for a somewhat limited time peace of mind - and hammer the usual tire sources and let them know there's still a market for 205s and 245s. On my other set of wheels I have Toyo RA-1s in 205 and 225 16. Unfortunately the 205s are NLA at this time. They still make the 225 and 245 16s. That will be what I go to the next time I need street/DE tires.

I guess it depends. The RA-1s have a tread wear rating of 100, and the R1-s is 40 and much softer. I have not had any undo wear with the RA-1s on the street. My first set of RA-1s I autocrossed with a couple of years, maybe 20 events plus three days of DE and about 3000 street miles before they were smooth. They are definitely fair weather tires, but I have found them suitable for occasional street use. Your mileage may vary, since my 2100lb, 180 hp car is easy on tires.

These are my Toyos for comparison. 205, 225 16s on 7 and 8" Fuchs. Fender lips rolled and 2 deg. negative camber front and rear.
