Switches between the driver and passenger door electric mirror.

Electric side mirrors.........

Have you tried to adjust your side mirrors? Do you know where the adjuster knob is located?

Drivers side interior door panel upper front. Near the "vent' window.

Here is what I have on the door panel.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1475453050.jpg

Not the same as my 81. Sorry.

Be patient. :)

Ravi,
The switch is usually located about where you windwings are. Also, the top part of the door panel does not have the hole for the directional switch. You should pull the top part of the door panel and see if the wiring is there for the switch.

+1

With a couple of screws you can pull that top panel off and see if the female plug is present.

Another weekend project. Thanks for all the responses.

On my SC that's the mirror driver/passenger switch.

javadog 10-03-2016 03:36 AM

If this is on your '75, it was not born with electric mirrors, so it would have not had the switch, either.

You might have a switch that was added by a previous owner. Shine a light inside the trunk towards the switch and see what wiring it is attached to and where the wires go.

Any chance your car has twin plug ignition?

On the factory race cars, while the switch was different, that's where the test switches were located for turning off each ignition box

Probably not that but may be ignition related?
What happens when you move the switch?

scotricker 10-03-2016 04:21 AM

It's for the sunroof on my 78 SC

javadog 10-03-2016 04:44 AM

That's not a sunroof switch, nor is it where a sunroof switch should be. A targa won't likely have a sunroof, anyway...

Not likely to be for twin ignition, either. You'd need two switches for that scenario, not one.

The most common "extra" switches added by owners are for oil cooler fans and kill switches.

That is the factory sideview mirror L/R adjustment toggle switch. Betting the PO's door top replacement project likely just ignored the mirror adjustment joy stick.

javadog 10-03-2016 09:36 AM

I have to assume he's talking about his '75 targa.

Electric mirrors were introduced in 1976.

Whatever it is for, it was added after it was built, unless he has a '76 that was first sold in a market where the registration date determined the model year that was recognized.

On my '74 Targa it was added by the PO to manually turn on the fender mounted oil cooler fan.

MBAtarga 10-03-2016 04:17 PM

Could be for aftermarket alarm or fuel pump relay switch for use as theft deterrent - whatever the PO added on the car.
