Dwell measure on 911

Hello everybody,

Yesterday I was approching to set the timing and everything related to my 1974 911 2700 with my new toy (timing light with dwell and advance measure features).
I can't find where to connect dwell meter clip to my Bosch coil: the timing light user's manual says it should go on the cable from the distributor to the coil...I checked on the web and my guess is that it should be connected to the low voltage connection on the coil. If it's so, which is it? How can I access to it since there is a sort of cap over the voltage connections on the coil...
Any thoghts?

Thank you,

Luca

Luca,
Just insert a small piece of wire to the clip that exit from the distributor body.
Do not use use tension connectors exiting from distributor cap or you will damage your meter, at least.

So... positive connector to the distributor and negative to body ground.

Digital dwell meter hook up

Ciao from an italian member. ;-)

Yeeepp...I completely missed out your post, sorry guys about that.
I saw the tech tips by our host Pelican Parts but it wasn't clear to me..I tought it was referred to a different distributor.

Just to do the things right, I have to place an alectrical wire from the guy in the red circle and connect there the red (=power) clip of my dwell meter. Is that correct?

Thank you

Luca

PS Fizeus you have a private message (by me)

Yes, this is correct.
Be aware that changing your dwell settings (adjusting points) will change your timing, so do dwell first, then timing. When my car had points I set them at 39º as I recall.
