There is a retaining clip at the cable end of the connector(right side of your picture)
Push the clip and swing the connector away from the ECU starting at the cable end. There is a hook at the other end of the connector (left side of your picture) that disengages once you swing the connector out.

Here is a zoom of the right side.

I found this:

Quote:

Hold the control unit in one hand and press on the steel retaining tab that holds the electrical connector. Remove the plug by rotating out from the box so that it pivots on the end away from the retaining tab. When reinstalling, remember that this hook is installed first."

This is becuase the harness needs to be removed at an angle from the DME itself. Looking at the harness conenction to the DME (rearward of the car) the Harness has a little clip on the DME itself, holding the harness in. Pull this clip and at the same time, pull the harness (driver's side part of the DME harness) out, now the otehr side of the harness can come out at an angle.

From the perspective of your photo, press the silver clip to the right to unlatch the connector, then pivot the DME box counter clockwise off of the left side of the connector.

The silver thing is a spring clip. Push it to the side away from the white nylon connector body and simultaneously pull the connector away from the ECU. You be able to grab it right where the cable goes into the connector body

Thanks guys.

I made the mistake of not wearing my headlamp.
When I went back, with LIGHT, it was clear how the clip worked.
To get it unclipped and pulled, I got a helper for the 3rd hand.

Wong chip is installed !

Here are some more pics, for posterity:
