Omega spring install
I recently replaced my broken Omega spring. It all went well at first. Followed the instructions in Wayne's 911 101 project book. But upon reinstall I had it all in place but looking at the picture in the book, it looked wrong somehow. This led me down a 2 hr rabbit hole.
I knew you had to "use a large screwdriver to pry the spring into position." But I had it all together with the end on the pin and it didn't seem to work at all. I took things apart, to check on the "easy to get it wrong" assembly. But it seemed correct. I pushed, I prodded I cussed. My able assistant wore her leg out pushing and pulling the clutch pedal up and down. I couldn't figure out where to apply the large screwdriver to make this whole thing work. Finally I reread the apply the screw driver section one more time and noticed it said apply it to the LEVER not the spring. Diving under the car again, I figured out the only place to do this, and in 2 seconds it was all popped in place and made sense. Attached are two slightly fuzzy pictures of where to apply the leverage. This was done with the whole thing assembled, but it should be done before the clutch cable is attached. ![]() ![]()
