69-911E Coupe license light and headlight/ Bulb or entire assembly

I have a stock 1969-911E that has a driver side highbeam headlight out as well as a rear license plate light out. For the headlight, low beam lights do work---- do I have to be an entire headlight assembly or can I just buy the bulb?, if just the bulb appreciate the part #, if the entire assembly appreciate the part # as well. I am not interested in upgrading just replacing what has been burnt out.

On the rear license plate, I am looking for just the bulb but on SMC, Stoddard as well as Pelican-I have to buy the entire bulb assembly and cannot find any reference to purchasing the bulb itself. Thanks in advance, once again, not interested in upgrading just want to replace the bulbs. Gordon

Need to know type of bulb for an answer: H1, H4, maybe sealed beam

Assuming it is an H1 or H4 bulb then yes they can be replaced. I would replace in pairs.

I don't remember if these came with DOT sealed beams but if so then it takes the entire glass unit.

I am thinking H1 ---I seem to recall that I read H4 came out after 69, somewhere in the 1972 or later model year

Matthew,
What about your license plate light?

I don't know, sorry. When I got my car it had been partially stripped for weight and those were deleted. So from that perspective it is franken-Porsche. The shop I bought from installed some for me so they could be 993 for all I know. Most likely Bulb (3893), Part #: 900-631-103-90-M97. Those are $1.25 so even if they didn't fit you won't have to mortgage the house and you can probably get them at AutoZone or Pep Boys, etc.

My car does have H4 and those connectors were in place when I bought the car. You need to look in your headlight bucket at the bulb and/or connector. If it is single spade then its H1, 3 spades is H4. I believe sealed beam also have 3 spade connector. If you do have sealed beam then you have to replace the entire light as an assembly. If you are in that boat then I would get Euro H4 lenses and buckets and put an LED light in it.

There have been several threads on LED headlight bulbs. I went with Sirius brand and love them. At around $100 for a set, plug and play. Vastly better lighting. Amazon carries them. You can search this forum for those threads for more info.

The thing about '69 cars is that they sometimes received bits from earlier SWB cars depending what was left on the shelf at the factory. So you really just have to look at what you have and replace like for like.
