H4 painted trim installation difficulties
I recently installed a set of AL h4 euro assemblies in my 911sc. The assemblies look and work great. I also purchased some paintable trim rings to cover the chrome ring but am having serious difficulties mounting it, is there a trick?
The trim ring fits fine on the assembly when removed from the car, a little tight but I am able to get it on and off with some gentle prying. As soon as I install the h4 assembly into the bucket and try to install the trim ring over it, it's seemingly impossible. No matter which way I push on it I cannot get the trim to seat on to the lower section of the assembly. Help? What am I missing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Do you have the special bolts to fit the trim ring? It can be difficult to fit, but if you keep pressure on the top while trying to snap the bottom into place it should fit. I remember it took a bit of fiddling to get mine to fit ( and even more to get the attachment bolt lined up, but it did eventually fit).

H4 painted trim installation difficulties
So I found it was actually excess buildup of overspray on the ring interior making it too tight. Would n't think it would add up to that much but the tolerances on these parts are surprisingly tight. All good now.

A thin coat of grease does 2 things, installation and help control corrosion

I recently installed H4's with painted trim rings. Are you using the inner and outer screw?

The angle of the interior screw is such that it points down to the bumper. Make sure you can screw in the outer screw by hand before tightening.
