Question continental tires

1981 911sc

Has anyone had experience with Continental tires?
SportContact is the model I like so far.

Tx! john

I spoke to the TireRack on tires the other day and the guy I dealt with didn't have much good to say about them. They come OE on a lot of cars which, unfortunately, means there cheap. Go to TireRack survey page and see what other think about them.

No experience with those, but my next set of tires will be the Bridgestone S-03's. Good price and performance. Four star rating on tire rack. Actually, I run the Bridgestore RE730 Gen II's now and they are a good tire as well.

I had 2 19" tires come apart within 2 months, and am currently in negotiations with Continental for reimbursement for those two, plus the other 4 that I have. I don't know if I got a bad batch, or if this a common problem. As soon as Continental saw the pictures of the failed tires, they quickly wanted them back in their posession.

Porsche used Conti Sport Contact on their cars during the late 90ties as far as I can remember. The German magazine Auto Motor & Sport have tested the Sport Contact and gave it good notes.

My dad's Volvo had Conti Sport Contacts when new and in my opinion these tires didn't last as many KMs as one could have hoped for. They were also noisy and weren't as good in wet conditions as one is led to believe when reading the AMS test. The Volvo now runs on Michelin Pilot GT. Also noisy

I just put the new Yokohama ES-100's on my 83SC and really love'um.
I had Bridgestone RE730's and had no compliants with them.I wanted to try something new and the Yoko's looked like a good tire for the money and.... They are !

I tried Conti motorcycle tires once. This was quite a few years ago. I did not care for them.

Bridgestones - the ol' RE31...

if you can find them.... or I like Kuhmo's also - a little squeaky - but solid feel and good grip- also nice rain channel on the "ecsta" - otherwise get a B'stone Z rated cheapo and be done with it.

Oops, let me answer the question - NO I have not OWNED a conti tire - but that does not stop me from having an opinion - hahaha -IMO - conti's are expensive and long lasting tires that lack grip and feel.
