Need some quick help (pic included)
Hey Folks,
Working on the project car tonight. Looks like I am completely missing a vacuum line. Can you tell me where the other end is? Trying to figure out if I have enough time to reach it tonight. Thanks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476754140.jpg |
Check back of your TB, it should be a #2 vacuum hose. I am just making a "quick guess" :D
Sorry I am not too familiar with CIS system. |
That is your deceleration valve. I just happen to have my CSI out of the car. Here is a picture of the routing http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476762790.jpg
This line is plugged due to surging idle... Golf tee is the most common thing used. |
Thanks a bunch!!

Are the two fat ports on the back even connected? Often people will pull the vacuum line off of there and leave it be, but the two 3/4-ish inch rubber lines should still be connected to it.
Edit: I'm asking because it's not 100% clear from your picture Edit #2: I guess with some squinting those hoses are connected |
Looks like the other end of the Tee goes to the Cruise Control. (If you have one)

One more if you guys don't mind. Need the destination of this line. Pretty gnarly leak and I'm trying to figure out how much length I should order

That's a really long line, right? I believe it loops behind the engine and goes to the charcoal canister fastened to the right side fender behind the oil filler. The hose is connected to the air box above the throttle body where there is no vacuum. Shouldn't be a source of a vacuum leak.
That charcoal canister has two fittings on the back side (facing forward). I think this line goes on the top fitting. I think the bottom fitting of the canister is actually a small hose that connects forward to the fuel tank to collect vapors. Mark |

Th small one 3.3MM x 7.5MM is just over 6 feet http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476926000.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476926102.jpg The larger one in your picture is just under 6 Feet and is 11MM x 17MM http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476926157.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1476926335.jpg While you are there check the Lines going to the oil tank as well. Those are likely shot as well. |
You can just replace that one without worrying about a CIS vacuum leak. There's no intake vacuum to the sensor plate on it.

Yup, it's the long long one! Looks like a routine nightmare! Haha
Did PP have a part number for the long one? |

That is not a vacuum line but a vent from your charcoal canister that filters fumes from your gas tank/lines. Rather than vent over pressure to the open air they vent it to your air intake for whatever residual to be burned off. You can cut the line and cap it, leave it open to air (block of the box opening) or replace it. Will not effect anything in the vacuum business. |
Thanks for all the info! If it's not needed I'll cap it and save the frustration.
