PPI in Austin, Texas
Hi,
I have located a car of interest in the Austin, Texas area. Owner knows very little of the car's history so I need someone in the area to look it over for me. It is 1970 911T. Anyone know of a good place to have this car checked out in Austin? Thanks, Peter Last edited by pjk7; 10-02-2008 at 04:56 PM.. |

Send me a PM with the contact info. I can lay eyes on it to see if you want to proceed.
Where are you located?

MooreSpeed is probably the best in town. If you want someone to look at it prior to having to pay for a PPI I would be happy to check the car out for you. Let me know. Jamie you get to do all of these let me have a crack
Can I go with you?Michael secpac58@aol.com

Sure Michael, let's go check out the car. No, I don't get to do all of them. Sometimes its fun to see how these old cars are kept together. I know I always learn something new. How is the E running?
I am not aware of any early cars for sale in the area. I agree that Moorespeed is a great shop. There are a few others too.

Yes would be great to hook up. been so hot that I have only had the E out a few times recently with the cooler eve. weather. Dave really got me dialed in so its running great. Got that back up light switch wiring fixed up too. I need to get after a couple of oil leaks and then detail the engine. My next big project.
I did spot a black 70t on craigslist a while back I wonder if it is that car. I never went to see it but would like to check it out with you and learn something.

At the track = great day

I'll suggest Black Forest Werkshop as another shop that is good. They normally do BMWs but they do take care of some air-cooled Porsches as well.

I know this is a really old thread but I'm looking for a PPI in Northern Austin. Anyone near Terry Davison Import?

I've been into Terry Davison mulitple times - most of what they buy is off auction or sometimes even on consignment. Some good stuff, some ok stuff. Definately do a PPI, but not that I need to even say that...
Moorespeed or TPWS are great shops, and the more 'hardcore' Porsche shops in town. That said, I've had a good experience with Northwest Imports which is closest to Terry Davison, but not so much closer that it makes a difference to TPWS. Moorespeed is over by the airport, and are probably one of the easiest of the lot to work with as their shop is huge and leave a lift open for such things in a more real time response.

NW Imports is a good shop. They did PPI on my DD BMW and maintain a few cars for friends.
Off Pond Springs so not too far from dealer. Right down 620 and turn right.

I'm right around the corner from Terry Davison, and drive by it to/from work. Let me know if you need me to drop in for any reason.

That would have been something. I did have the car inspected at Northwest and it passed. It was just loaded up and it's on it's way to Connecticut. Thanks for all the suggestions.
