Oil change interval - Miles or age?

Quick question on when would you change your oil.

Stats:
- Street driven only. Usually every weekend for extended time to get everything hot.
- Been about 1 yr since last oil / filter change (Valvoline 20w-50 VR1)
- 3500 miles since change.

Usually was doing it every 5000-7500 miles. Obviously I drive much less now than I used to BUT it still gets driven quite regularly (no garage queen here). I was going to just wait till it hits the 5k mark but it has been a yr and I did just have to add a half quart to tank. Top end was rebuilt about 15k miles ago so engine is in great running shape.

So, should I continue on till 5k mark or do it sooner given the time since last change?

Personally, i do 5k miles or 1-year. If most of your driving was longer trips you are probably fine going a little over a year. Short trips is what is bad for oil.

As mine are only driven very little and stored over the winter, I simply change the oil and filter before storage. It would be best to drive them more so I could get 5000 miles over the driving season here in the Midwest.
