Transaxle Identification

I am gathering parts for a GT40 build. The recommended transaxle for my specific kit is from a 1987 911 (G50/01).
I have tracked down a used 1987 930 Turbo transaxle.

Can anyone help to decipher the code on the bottom of the unit?

Also, is there any significant difference between the 930 Turbo 1987 unit and a standard 911 G50/01?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

One difference is the 930 is a 4 speed and the G50 is a 5 speed. The 930 tranny is beefeier and might be harder to shift.

Can't help much on the transaxle but good to see someone from Blaine. I'm in Bellingham but come up to Blaine 2 or 3 times a week.

I've heard there is a major internet parts wherehouse for Mustangs in Blaine. Ever go by his operation?

Someone will come along with your tansaxle info.

That transaxle number appears to be from a 1979 930, not an 87.

An 87 would be 930/36, with a serial number 77Hxxxx.

The "9" in the number is the year, they changed to "A" in 1980.

The 930 and G50 transaxles are not the same. G50 has a hydrolic clutch, 930 is a cable. As Blown mentioned, the 930 is a 4 speed, with really tall gears (like 60MPH in 1st & top speed of ~180 tall). From the chart, the G50/01 was the standard on US 911's up to the introducton of the 964.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the one I was watching won't work.

I prefer to have a G50/01 - makes it easier to mate with the V8. I'm building a DRB GT40 from Australia.

So what is special about the G50/01? I thought that all 5-speed G50's were pretty much the same.

I suppose the 964 versions had taller gears, is that it?
