Strange vibration and rubbing sound at speed
Hey Guys,
I've had my 3.2 Carrera out a couple times over the past week. At 60 mph, I feel a vibration thru the steering wheel and hear an oscillating noise that sounds like two things are rubbing together that shouldn't be. Any ideas on where to start looking? Thanks, Andy

Here's a few speed-related things to look at.
Wheel weights loose? Tires balanced? Flat spots? Bearings properly adjusted? How much pad lining do you have? Bill K

My emergency brakes rub cuz i have them adjusted a little too tight. Need to back them off. No vibration but scraping sound

Are you able to pinpoint where the oscillating noise is coming from? Front/rear? Have you done any maintenance to the vehicle recently, like new tires/alignment, etc? I'd also recommend checking your wheels to make sure they're in good condition and not bent. This individual may not have your exact issue, but it has some good suggestions to check over as well: Front Suspension Vibration at Speed. I'd definitely check out wheel bearings and other suspension components. Hopefully more Pelicans will pop in and give you some additional advice as well. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

When driving at a constant speed, slowly turn the steering wheel right and then left. If the vibration/noise changes pitch, the likely culprit will be a wheel bearing.

I know it sounds insultingly obvious, but it happened to me: take a look at the tires, particularly the inside edges. I had this happen, and was thinking of all sorts of suspension related explanations. Turns out the tires were worn down to the threads on the inside where I couldn't see from the side.
