Problem with door lock
I have a problem with my driver side door lock on my 83' 911 SC Coupe. When the door is completely closed the lock/unlock works perfectly....from the outside with the key and from the inside with the twistlock, however when the door is open the lock will not budge (up or down) from either the key or the twistlock. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Porsche engineered it that way so that you can't lock your keys in the car . The door has to be closed to operate the lock from the outside with the key .

Really? Makes sense. But only on the drivers side? On the passenger side, the twistlock functions with the door open as well as closed.

Yup, only the driver side. That's actually pretty normal for most German cars. I've had VWs and BMWs from the '70s and '80s that were the same way.

Thanks for the input. I guess I never noticed this "feature" of my 911 until I was finishing up replacing the stock door panels with the RSA door panels. I thought I had a problem on my hand. Thanks again.
