VW385 Tooling

Whats the going street price of the VW385 pinion tooling for a 915 going for these days? Im looking to source the measuring bar, bearing pucks, and associated bits to set up a r&p in a new case.

I have found them through snapon for dealers so i have a idea of the high end price. Whats the low end specturm for a good used set of tooling. Thanks.

I'd guess the low end to be in the 1200-1500 range for a complete set.

These have come up on Samba every so often and I'm looking for some myself. Price above seems about what I've seen. There is a NLA plastic spacer part that someone here bought the last of from the original maker of these. He was going to reproduce them in metal. I'll try and find the thread when I've some more time.

I do not disbelieve in anything. I start from the premise that everything is true until proved false. Everything is possible.

Thanks. I remember a thread on that. Right now i cant get at set for ~1k minus some un needed parts. Enough to do the job. But its used and if the cam breaks im out another $900 buying a new 385/1 bar. So im currently in the fence to bite the bullet and buy all new vs saving a few $$ and then having the tool break etc.

The thread is on rennlist. He decided not to make them if memory serves. I offered to make them in metal and he never responded.

Matt ... What would be needed to make the piece? A good used one or a new nla part? If i end up buying one i mught be able to remove the plastic cam for reproduction if it doesnt make the tool i get to become a $1k paper weight.
