83sc smoke above 5000rpm

It was a great day here today, had gone to the local cars and coffee. Car was running great, on the way home from the meet called my wife and suggested grabbing her and the kids for a lunch run in Daddy's 'hotrod'. I didn't want to park it just yet..

On the way home I gave the car a hard pull off the lights, in 2nd gear I would normally shift a little sooner but at around 5500+- i see white smoke dumping out behind me. I upshift and everything continues to appear to be normal. I have not noticed this before.
140000 miles on 3.0 thats only had headstuds done years ago, no other major engine work.
I tried search, lots of smoking at start or smoking on deceleration but couldn't find this situation. My car leaks oil and burns that off the heat exchangers (smell) but i don't normally see any oil burning in the exhaust.

If this is normal or nothing to worry about that would put my mind at rest.

Chris
