Hot start? Most times that is the check valve in the fuel pump neck. A shot of ether or lifting the flapper in the air box will get it started.

As Joe Bob notes, unless you are certain it is the accumulator (an expensive part), a hot start problem has other, less expensive remedies. Your best bet while in the current condition is to lift the plunger in the intake, with the ignition ON, activating the fuel pump until you hear the injectors squeal. That will get you started as that action pressurizes/primes the fuel system. Just be sure you don't hold the plunger up too long as you will flood the engine. Around 3 seconds should be adequate.

Pressurize the system.......
Silvester, I will share with you a few tricks to overcome a faulty fuel accumulator in an emergency: a). Use a small clamp or vise grip to pinch the return line from the bottom of the FA. b). Test run the FP using the FP relay terminals (87a & 30) with the ignition switch @ ON position (not start) and start the engine. Injecting raw fuel into the intake while the engine is not running and subsequently igniting the paddle of fuel is a recipe for disaster specially if you have unmetered air going into the system. c). Applying both procedures above. The decision is all yours. And keep us posted. Tony |
