CIS Components Question for SC's
The Bentley manual is very helpful generally but.......... I know that I have an Auxillary Air Regulator (AAR) and an Auxillary Air Valve (AAV) in my 1980 SC. But, do I also have a Deceleration Air Valve? Or, Is Deceleration Air Valve and Auxillary Air Valve (AAV)the same thing?
Do all SC's have a Deceleration Air Valve (DAV)? Mine has SSI's and the OX sensor disconnected but still has the Frequency Valve. I can see the AAV and AAR and FV on the engine but cannot make out the Deceleration Air Valve. Could it have been disconnected by PO? |

All SC's came with deceleration valves, but it's very common to remove or bypass them. They tend to cause an annoying rpm hang before returning to idle.
Since you have a USA '80, your deceleration valve looks just like your AAV, and they are located right next to each other on the right side of the engine, towards the back. If it looks like you have two AAV's, then your deceleration valve is still there. The euro SC's and the USA '78-'79 had a different style deceleration valve. It's the thingy in the middle with all the vacuum hoses attached to it : |
