WOW - what a difference
 

Just fitted Koni Special D's and turbo tie rods to my Cab.

The ride is sooo much better, much of the harshness is gone, the handling seems better - although yet to have a spirited drive;)

The turbo tie rods have made a definte improvement, the steering is much sharper. The steering is still heavy, but with 18X8 wheels - what else would you expect.

The old shocks seemed to be the originals although the fronts were odd - Boge red and yellow. Very strange.

With all the jobs completed during the summer holidays I'm off on a 1100KM drive tomorrow. With 30C summer temperatures it should be some great top down motoring.:cool:

Off to Tathra - on the coast near Bega just north of Merimbula. I hope it is a little cooler, the only aircon is the roof and on days like yesterday it gets mighty hot.

..........and an incredible amount of radar touting Highway Patrol officers. Lucky me, I'm limited to 90km/h anyway LOL.

I got back from my 1000K drive in a day adventure - a great way to test the new suspension :D

The ride and handling from the new set up was fantastic, a great improvement over the old shocks and tie rods.

The weather was mostly good and the traffic and radar count was very low. :rolleyes:

The car was perfect, but did jump out of 4th gear once, when I hit a big pothole - I hope this is not a sign of things to come.

APKhaos - LOL - I think you mean the "Sholehaven river", maybe you are confusing your past times:cool:

I am not sure that I have my tyre pressures optimised for the new setup yet - so I will have to research this a bit further.

No confusion - that was always our 'pet' name for the Shoalhaven.
Spent many a great summer along that coast, and still really miss it.

What hot pressures are you running? Something around 36F38R measured when you have been running the tires hard should work nicely. Street tires generally don't do well at hot pressures higher than that.

APK - I gather there was local knowledge - I hadn't heard this before - I laughed.

I haven't measured the trye pressure hot only cold. I have 275/35 18's on the rear and 245/45 18's AVS, currently I am running 32 in the rear and 30 in the front cold.

Low radar count eh? Sounds interesting :) Probably all taking their Christmas holidays now.

Normal town driving should increase tyre pressure about 3 or 4 PSI over the cold pressure. Extended highway driving in the fashion the car was intended for will increase pressure 8 to 10 PSI. So.....I would guess you should try setting your pressures at 37R 35F, or pretty much the same as what APKhaos said. These being ballpark figures you can tune it as you go along (this is where a small 12V compressor and tyre guage really come in handy.)

Do you have your own guage or use a service station one?

Finally, do any Sydney Pelicanites know who owns the white 930 with number plates "GO930" in the Sydney area? Absolutely flew past me today.

It was 5.5 hours there and 6.5 back due to very bad weather at Bulli Pass. - A great run - I love long drives.

There were two non fixed radars - both in small towns, in which I always adhere to the speed limits, although I note one Boxster owner was not so lucky.

Yes I have a guage and an electric pump. What is a little confusing is that Yoko guy told me not to run more than 28 in the tyres - I thought this was low.

I have not see the white 930 at any events or the club.

I don't know if the Yoko guy was talking about cold pressures for track use. That would be the only thing that would make sense...hot pressure would end up being around 38 PSI. 28 does seem extremely low. If you have been running 32R 30F without any problems (shoulder wear or centre wear) then I guess you can disregard Yoko guy's advice.

Have you been able to find any (Porsche) factory documentation for your size tyres?

Are we still using radar in Australia or have we moved on to laser?
