While driving my 911 in Oregon yesterday I saw this .....

.

I asked the lot boy how this happened and he said that the rookie Trooper had just returned from the Bob Bondurant Defensive School of Driving and was acting cocky and showing off for other Troopers. He attempted a high speed reverse 180 and he didn't look to see what was behind him.......
What a jerk............

I hope they didn't have a stunt driver in that car... they'll have a sore neck!

Just kidding on the Blues Brother movie. It was just the first thing that popped into my head. Either that or a new Dukes of Hazzard series starring Wayne and Tyson!-)

we have had several state police cars plowed in here on the tow road, it seems they pull some one over and get slammed from the rear from traffic, if you look at the nose it appears that it was pushed into another car, WOW, Kevin

Fireball?

Isn't that one of those exploding Ford Crown Victorias that a lot of highway patrol/trooper departments are either getting rid of or suing Ford about?

60 Minutes did an article on them; featured an Ariz. trooper who nearly died in one.

We have them everywhere on So. Cal streets and freeways.

Thats funny because they are rusting real fast, ok wait i remember vegas, ltd's, gremlins etc rusting while you looked at them on the show room floor, the local police got something like 10-15 new cop cars because of this, and every new one they buy is a Dodge, Kevin

That damage looks to be the very ordinary and common result of someone plowing into a highway patrol car when it is pulled over writing someone a ticket. Probably even had the flashing lights on when it happened. The Bondurant story sounds like the 'lot boy' was having some fun with you, but I suppose anything is possible. The extreme deformation of the rear half of the car combined w/ the lack of buckling on the front half, (even the front half of roof), suggests to me that this car was not moving when the damage occured. Think about it, the car would have to be going 70-80mph in reverse, and drive smack into the front of a truck that he did not see in order to cause that shape of damage. It was even hit off center to the left, yup, it was pulled over.

Ask any cop to look at that picture, he will register no surprise, every HP office in the land has pictures just like it on the wall.

Hard Info .. I rolled a 12 ton FD rig for many years.. big lights and big big noise.. so at intersections everything is OK, usually.. but when overtaking traffic ocasionally a nervious driver in front will do something real stupid.. I never did a 180deg spin, but others have in rain. or how about a driver overtaking a rig with lights and siren when 2nd or 3rd due, so not going fast, and then cut in front to get thru traffic in front of me... go figure
