Chicago Porsche Service Shop

Hello all,

Does anyone know of a reputable Porsche service shop for my 78 911 SC in the Chicagoland area?

Thank you for any assistance.

Scott

I bought my '80 SC coupe in Chicago from a private owner about 2 years ago.

i had the car taken to ******** for a compression test and PPI.
Sorry, but don't remember which part of town.
If you wish, i can retrieve all the contact info. from home tonight and pass it along to you tomorrow..

I was really pleased with the lead mechanic there. As a matter of fact, i think he's German- American - which was nice.
He took a real genuine interest in my car. I kinda got the feeling that he missed working on the older style 911's.
Lots of nice cars at his place, particularly Benz's and Audi's.

Let me know,
Maurice

What are you looking to have done? There are enough shops around here that are good at some stuff and not others. I'm only listing Non-dealers since I don't know anyone buying new Porsches....

Fischer Motors: Father son team. Street cars. Meticulous, done right the first time. Can be pricey and often backlogged.

Midwest Eurosport: Race cars. REALLY hard to get an appointment if you're not on the PCA board (or so it seemed to me). Expensive and really big on the upsell. Really know their stuff, but recently I heard of a few mistakes they've made. Could be a bad apple mechanic...

MotoDelta: Mostly Streetcars. Located in City. Service varies. Reasonable prices. Owner is a personal friend. Call me if you want to go there.

Perfect Power: Mostly race, some street. No personal experience but heard good things.

In my opinion, Midwest Eurosport is one of the top shops in Chicago. They are in Bensenville(sp?). It will take a little time to get an appointment, but Brian and George (owners) know there stuff.

I have taken cars to Ray at Motodelta, Sal at Perfect Power and George and Brian at Midwest Eurosport. Midwest Eurosport is the only one that has been able to retain my business.

Fischer Motors (Barrington) did a top end rebuild on my Carrera last April. I was very pleased with both the price and the result. The cost was much less than quotes I received from other places (like Midwest). I called them in March, brought the car in a week later, and it was done in two weeks. No problem with appointments if you get them between seasons (roughly November to March). They also did some other stuff at what I thought were quite reasonable rates - second exhaust outlet on stock muffler ($70), fixed rust hole in front suspension pan ($120).
