I had this exact same problem and recall seeing other threads with the problem as well.

They will fit but need some help. Use dishwashing liquid or some sort of lubricant around the seals. Get your garage nice and warm. Carefully push them in, CAREFULLY.

Like 'matthewb0051' said....LOTS OF LUBE......and get a friend to slowly and gently pull the inside latch closed while you push from the middle and end (opposite of the hinge). Go SLOW. Then, don't open them until next summer!!

I put my whole window in bucket of really hot water, then installed them, shut them, left for couple days before opening. All good!

The 8th grade boy in me is dying to make a comment on this...

+1 on close them and leave them closed for some long period of time.

We have two different interpretations of your problem.
1. You cannot close and latch the window, or
2. You cannot get the seals to fit in the window frame.

When I backdated my 82 to opening rear windows I installed new seals and they were tough. I ended up using lots of dishwashing soap and bicycle tire levers to get the seals/gaskets to fit. Like the others said go slow and use patience. Also the Windows didn't want close, so I pushed slowly as my wife pulled the inside latches and finally got them closed. I too left them latched closed until they relaxed. With time they became much easier to close.
