Fix for broke hood lock stud?
Hey guys
I snapped the left hood lock stud in half while over tightening the latch hook assembly. Theres barely any thread left to get a nut on there. Anyway to fix this? Is it a cut it off and weld on another type of fix?

Is the top of the hood on the opposite side? Like to see this with the latch removed.
Trying to determine if there is anything to drill and tap into. BTW, what size is the stud?

Once a friend of Cliff

take the latch off completely and then try to get a better grip on the remaining bolt portion with a very good set of needle nose vice grips. I might also reattach the removed nut & retighten it with an over sized washer to keep the floating flange piece hidden in the hood somewhat stable while you try to back the broken piece out. try to use a screw driver or such to further steady the internal flange as you try to back your mistake out with the vicegrips I reference
or epoxy it to the hood and rely on the receiver & cable portions of the system to adjust your hood starting tomorrow after the epoxy has cured....

You will need to find someone with a stud welder, similar to what body shops use to weld pull pins to get dents out.
