Original badges for 69E rear deck lid -- any tips?
Hello everyone,
I'm currently thinking of putting some original badges on my 69E rear deck lid which, by the way is aluminum. It must be off a 70S, but a later addition to the car that has sat for many years. There is a grill but no badges except for the bottom single letters of PORSCHE that are a silver color on an original light ivory exterior, and as said ROW car invoiced to Japan. My questions here are-- 1. What color were the original badges, gold or silver/chrome? I found an aquaintence who had the Sportomatic badge here today in gold, but the 911E badge he has is silver/chrome. He wants 70 dollars for the sporto badge. I need them both in the same color, but what is the right color? 2. Since the rear deck lid might not have the original holes, it would hurt me to drill holes in an original deck lid, even though I want to keep it on the car. 3. Not to be repetetive, but did different color exteriors come with different color badges in 69'? Or did the US market and ROW market have and difference on badge color? Perhaps some people would choose to leave the badges off in order to shed the stigma Sportos have had since their innovation. I'm not like that, and recently I've been driving it and love it for what it is. And so, I'm going to to proceed to get them on and try to stay as close to originality as possible, even if it means drilling into an original aluminum deck lid -- OUCH! Nevertheless, I would appreciate any and all insights you might have. Thanks in advance, Bernard
