1969 Blaupunkt Frankfurt US AM/FM Stereo - Strange Faceplate?? Help!
I came across this radio and have no idea what it came out of originally. Based on the tags, I have been able to confirm that it should be a 1969 Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM Stereo, U.S. model (see photos below). I have searched (and searched) and viewed hundreds of similar radios but have not found another with this same faceplate (either 1969 Frankfurts or other years/models). Most of the ones I can find have 'Blaupunkt' on the middle of the right side of the faceplate but this one does not. I have also noticed that the red stereo light is to the left of the 'T' in STEREO on this one but on the right of a lot of the others I have found. Anybody out there have any idea what's up with this radio? Is this a replacement faceplate of sometype? If so, why can't I find it anywhere else? Any ideas as to what vehicle makes/models this was available as a factory option/accessory?
Only other thing I have noticed is that if the serial numbers are sequential and the '69's started with A2770001 then this would be an early radio since its serial number A2770185. Not sure if they are sequential or if this would make a difference either way. By The Way, I am planning on putting this up for sale, eventually, if anyone out there is interested in it. I want to ID it first to see if it is worth my time to fully test and/or service it before I proceed. Best regards, John |

My folks had a 1970 Citroen DS that had a similar Blaupunkt radio. It was dealer installed.
