I took a trip to Michigan last year. On the way back the first 9 million miles were in the rain. The day after I got home went to the garage and my, mainly, left side gauges had condensation in them. I just let it evaporate and they've been fine, (knock on wood).

You're going to need a complete new car. Sorry.

Just kidding. Reminded me of 'James, the ashtray in the Roller is full...'
You don't need a new gauge if its still working (which gauge?). The gauge can be dried - in an absolute worst case, remove the gauge and place face down on a warm surface for a day or 2. The condensation will evaporate through the illumination/bulb holes. But you'd better start looking for water/leaks in your trunk, or this prob will continue and others will as well (i.e. rust...)

If you remove the gauge, carefully note where each each wire goes. Big pain if you don't.

It's a classic midyear-911 fault. I don't think there's one out there that doesn't do it.

I tried cleaning the inside of the glass of my fuel gauge once. It had permanently fogged from condensation and a light film of...something or other.

At first, I thought the only way to clean it was to remove the bezel and glass, but I found an alternate method.

I removed the gauge from the car, took out the OEL and fuel parts of the gauge and used a cloth wrapped around an allen wrench to clean the inside face. Using the allen wrench allowed me to poke it into the gauge and clean all around the edges.

Not that you would go that far, but just in case, I thought it was a good option.

my fuel guage (farthest one on the left) has always had a film of some sort on the inside. It's not condensation as I don't take my car in the rain, ...it's just a film on the inside lense. I assume it's been there since day one when it was manufactured. Its an extremely minor annoyance that I've learned to live with. You can usually notice it best when the sun is hitting the guage.
By the way I recently bought a Sector watch that had the same film on the inside, I took it back for another one which didn't have the film.
