Engine oil pressure too low at my 911/996
Hello,
i have some problems at my 911.i start the engine and starts great,works great,sounds great but after i run the car a little bit and the oil gets hot when i stay at idle on bord computer apear ENGINE OIL PRESSURE TOO LOW.Is right that i was driving the car with minimal oil level 700-800 km.could be the sender?could be oil pump?i don't know what to do...please can someone help me? |

what year is your car. Your signature says 911/996. If it is a 996 the problem could be terminal for the engine. You need to have the oil and filter analyzed for metal bits.

I do not know these engines in detail but in general I would have connected a mechanical gauge to confirm tha actual oil pressures at different conditions. if these are different than what you have on the gauge in the car, change the sensor. If you don't have access to a mechanical gauge then change the sensor. It is a cheap way to confirm the the actual pressure.
In the mean time, try to keep the idle so the light does not come on.

Sounds like you have a watercooled car(996)...suggest you post in the appropriate section, as the aircooled guys are not likely to be the ones to ask.

hello,
i checked the oil bath for metal bits and there are no metal bits.i will try to change the sensor i think this will be the first thing that i should do. |

What oil are you using and how old is it.How many miles on the engine? These engines are often filled with 0w40 .I prefer 5w40 or even 5w50. There are issues with the hydraulic lifters if you go thicker than 5w.

hello,
i founded the problem,  the pomps are down,the bearings are scratched and the arbor is bad.i have to change all the pieces.Did you hear about any engine porsche repaired?I have a friend wich is trying to repair it but i don't know if is a good ideea...did anybody heared about someone who repaired a porsche engine?Thanks |
