Angry Brakes

Hi,
Can anyone help, Ron from Australia here.
How can I update an early 911 from a single line brake circuit
to a dual circuit. I have purchased a dual master cylinder ?
Thanks Ron

Ron,

How old is your car? I assume it is pre-1967.

Is it LHD or RHD?

If you have enough space in the Smuggler's box then you should be able to install 2 x fluid reservoirs to supply the fluid and keep the appearance looking stock. You will need the appropriate fill lines which you will have to make.

If you are not interested in the stock appearance then you could fit the later reservoir and fill lines and install them in the same manner as a 1969 car,

Your original single cylinder should have a pressure switch fitted tor the brake lights so you will need to have this type of switch fitted to your new master cylinder.

You will need to change or adapt two of the front brake hard lines and modify the front connection to the Front 3-way T as the connections on the cylinders are in a different position.

If you remove the T piece you may have to change the front to rear pipe through the tunnel which is a PITA.

The final problem will be the push rod fitted to the brake pedal which is the wrong length.

The one you will need is 901.423.057.04 - If you don't change this the brakes will have a tendency to stick on as they warm up due to lack of clearance.
