Showing off....

My wife toll me the main reason man buys Porsche is to show off , and to attract girl's attention.

I buy my 911 because I enjoy the heritage and the mechanical wonders of the car. I really don't think about the attention I am getting while driving. I enjoy myself and the car even driving at mid-night.

How many of you think "attention getting", specially girls' , is the main reason to buy your 911?

It's not the main reason, but it's definitely a plus. If all I ever cared about was handling and didn't give a **** whether my friends thought I was a queer I might look into buying a Miata, but that won't happen unless somebody hacks my nuts off.

later,

amir (a girl told me that the reason a lot of them like the car is because it looks like a giant penis)

I don't think anyone buys a Porcshe thinking it will actually help his love life. Speed, heritage, mechanical wonder, etc. These are some of the reasons why we buy these things.

I've had mine for roughly 4 years and have never got a date (or what follows) in my Porsche. Maybe because of the color........J9J9 in 1975 was baby blue.

Well if you pick up a girl while in the car, you had better get a room cause you sure wont be swingin in the back seat of these puppies. Thats where the Cayenne could come in handy. I for one bought my 911 because of all the trouble free driving they offer, low maintanance costs, wonderful ride, the police just dont seem to notice me when Im bouncing the needle off of the 120 mark...etc. etc. etc... you know the story.

Hello,

I beg to differ my friend. Actually, the front seat can work well if you are still limber enough. Dont ask me how I know these things. But it is certainly possible.

I didnt get the Porsche for the chick magnet status but there is a measureable difference in the attention that get with the Cabriolet.

Recline both front seats, open the sunroof and find a secluded spot. It's not half bad.

later,

I think our cars are very beautiful, but I am utterly confident that glamour is not my purpose. Indeed, I am a 'sleeper' guy. A rusty Dodge Colt with a Chrysler 426 Hemi would be the perfect vehicle for downtown cruising. I love our cars primarily for their heritage and engineering. I am a bit embarrased to drive such an attention-getting car.

On the other hand, if I were single, I would be taking FULL advantage of its bait capabilities.

Tried to pickup girls in my 911,

Used the 60mph pick up where you pull up close on the freeway and tempt them waving a Holiday Inn doyle and a credit card.

No luck in the 911 or any other car.

Mmmmm Girls... That is where the Targa comes into its own...

I believe you do one of two things, you learn to play the guitar and become a rock star, or your buy a Porsche.. both with the ultimate aim of picking up girls... hahaha

Well, attention is not the main reason, but if you want to test the draw power of a 911, hand the keys to your 911 and your Chrylser Le Baron to your prospect and watch what she does.

Using this logic then why do girls buy Porsches? I want to buy one because I like the way they look and the idea that I can go 'really, really' fast. Hopefully without things falling off.

Second Amir, my 911 coupe has been christened a couple of times since I've had it. Just recline the passenger seat and make sure that she takes off the stilleto heals first, or you can puncture the headliner. (Very expensive).

I sold a guy my new red Ducati that's been sitting in my garage with 250 miles. He toll me the first day he went to the DMV for the registration, the clerk offer her phone #. He toll me the bike is worth every penny.

I should take the bike out more often than sitting it in the garage.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever bought a car to impress others. I definately want a car that impresses me.

I'm young and single, but girls and attention had nothing to do with my purchase. I bought it because I have an inferiority complex and am having a mid-life crisis.

That said, I recently dated a girl who loved my Porsche and admitted that she was conceived in one. Uuuuh, wassup baby.

I bought mine because I've been in love with Porsches since I was 9yo. I love everything you mentioned performance, heritage, handling, character, but it's also a very sexy car and maybe that's what attracts some women. You can't look at a 911 and think that the lines on that car are not perfect (perfect a$$ right??). Maybe chix are just jealous of it....
Anyway I don't think the car is enough to pickup girls, but it sure helps a little.
